Dear Mr. Gilchrist,
Would you plesse refer to my letter, reference as above, of the 18th December, anu to your telegram No. 608 of the 14th January to the Goverment of India about the Indian Contingent of the Hong Kong Police Force.
We have now agreed with the Treasury the financial arrangements which the Governor hus proposed and which are set out in his telegram No. 35 a copy
*g of which I enclose, You will see from the last sentence ol' that telegram how urgently necessary it is to proceed with the re-organization or and recruitment for the Indian contingent and therefore unless I hear from you within the next ten days, that there are objections to the Governor'。 recommendations, we propose to authorize him to make the arrangements described in my letter under reference.
Yours sincerely,
(Sgd.)
ISTON
